How to build MUSCLE

Things I have discovered from my personal experiences with 'Health & Fitness'.


1. We don't need to lift heavy weights to build muscle.

Our muscles grow when they are challenged. There are many movement techniques that challenge our muscles stimulating hypertrophy (muscle growth).


2. The three most effective ways to develop muscle with minimal risk of injury are:

a) Controlled Movement; We use our muscles, not gravity or momentum.

b) Variation of Movement; For every set, vary:

- Position of hands, feet or body angle

- Repetitions per set

- Movement combination

- Motion speed.

c) Volume Over Time; The more movement sets we perform over time, the more hypertrophy (muscle growth). Integrating movement into our day's experiences works over time.


3. Rest and recovery are just as important as effort over time. Sleep is the most effective recovery for our brain and body.


4. Our bodies are unique, what works for my body may not be effective/safe for your body. Self Awareness + Self Responsibility is a foundation behaviour for success in everything we do.


5. Everything improves with daily movement:

- Sleep

- Cognitive function

- Confidence

- Pain free body

- Energised throughout our day's experiences

- Feel good (Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin, Endorphins)

- Joint strength, stability, flexibility

- Fit into our skinny jeans

- Strong bones

- Cardiovascular health


Plus heaps more awesome things we create by choosing to integrate movement into our day's experiences, every day.


We are never too old and it's never too late for new beginnings.



Just choose to start and be consistent daily with your effort over time. We learn and grow through every experience along the way. It's really this simple. You CAN!
