Hug a tree

Updated: Oct 14, 2021

Humans are one of many tree-lovin,’ tree-huggin' species. Animals hug trees all the time, to rest, keep cool, and to stay away from predators, plus it’s a good view from the top. Just look at our Jaguar friend here! That’s animal luxury living.

How connected to nature you are depends on your behaviours. Generally speaking, we feel better with exposure to nature. Anxiety, depression and other modern day health concerns become more diminished when we become more mindful in the presence of nature. Being mindful involves an awareness of what is going on around us in the present moment.

Find your moment and embrace that tree. Kiss it, put your cheek against it, touch it, hug it, and talk to it even. It will change your life. At first it may be with giggles, but with time, you will really learn to be grateful for what life, and the tree, have given you. There is life on this planet, and it’s not just the human species. Trees and other plants are also life-form.

The human disconnect from nature has had negative consequences on our mental and physical health. Hugging is an action that produces a hormone (Oxytocin) that is a chemical messenger to the brain and is responsible for feeling calm, and emotional bonding.

Feel more joy. Give a tree a hug and feel better soon. XOXO
