Jungle food

The human species is by nature used to growing and picking food as it is needed. In ‘jungle’ times, let’s just say, we would dig the ground, pick plants, climb trees or take what has already dropped on the ground. Taking only what we need means there is also less food waste. Now that’s truly environmental.

Backyard gardening is very inspirational, and, home-grown food is far tastier than commercially processed foods. Eating fresh, what’s in season, and playing in the dirt, will colour your world and fill your soul with happy vibes.

Growing your own food can inspire you to take an interest in the origins and types of plant and tree varieties, as well as educating yourself on how to look after you garden. This activity will make you more aware of the importance of healthy eating, and you will really appreciate the time, love and nurturing that has gone into growing your own food. It’s as ‘organic’ as you are going to get. Nothing beats eating fresh - know exactly what you are eating.

It takes time to grow your own food, so you will savour it more because it took longer to get to the table. In addition, you will be contributing to a better environment (less food waste and packaging).

Start you own herb, fruit and vegetable garden. Start small and plant things you would really like to eat. Enjoy the fruits of your labour.

Cultivate your relationship between your garden and the Earth and learn to eat healthier.
