Jungle whispers

In the jungle, plants, animals and insects are playing ‘whispers’ all the time. They signal each other with vibrations. Plants absorb airborne sound, like running water and singing birds, insects buzzing, walking or feeding on the plant, or the effect of wind.

Plants are an amazing source of life that thrive and survive in a range of complex environments on Planet Earth. Plants detect changes in their environment; they sense gravity, respond to light, temperature, water, wind, sound, touch and scent. For example, plants can sense touch; a plant can shrink and closes its leaves and flowers upon even a slight touch.

Interestingly, plants react to the sounds of their environment. They respond to sound waves, they sense the environment that surrounds them. Some plants will sense and grow towards the sunlight (plants need to detect light sources to get food), and others for example, plant ‘root systems’, tend to grow towards the sounds of running water. Plants locate their moisture sources through the natural vibrations of water systems – sonic vibrations essentially.

We know that music is good for the ‘soul’. Acoustic energy creates an amazing sensation for the human spirit. Extend the possibility that the nature of plants may also perceive the same. The vibrations of the sound wave affect the plant. Provide stimulating conversations with your plants and help them grow.

It’s a magical wonder of this Earth, but there is a mysterious connection between plant health and humans that nurtures them.
