Our senses help us to understand and perceive the world around us. When in nature, we naturally want to see, hear, breath, taste the earthy sensations, and touch, everything! The human senses are very in touch with Mother Nature: Sight, Sound, Smell, Taste, and Touch.
Nature looks, feels, smells and tastes so damn good. Just look at everything we have, and you know we got it all from Mother Nature. We truly are blessed to be on Planet Earth.
Looking at nature, whether it is a view of the landscape or the view of a tree in comparison to a brick wall, whether it is outside your window or on a screen saver, makes us feel better emotionally. The benefits of looking at nature include reduced stress and anxiety, lower heart rate, and increased attention.
The sounds that are produced in nature, by birds, trees, water and the wind, bring a sense of relaxation and anti-stress to the human senses. Enjoy natural sounds. They were around long before music and rock and roll.
Aromatherapy is produced from the wonders of nature with the belief that smell affects mood and relaxation. The smell of summer air, cold winters, a dense forest, coastal vibes, and the scent of blooming flowers, all have a feel good impact on our psyche. Open your senses more when you are in nature.
The human touching senses are good for the heart; we feel more grounded, relaxed, present, and at peace in our own skin. The ‘feel’ of a tree, a leaf, the sand, the earthy ground, the water (natural or coastal) produces a calming effect. Connect to the Earth more by walking barefoot through grass or on the beach.
As for the taste! We enjoy eating because we were made for it. Mother Nature has provided an intense variety of flavours for us to savour. Healthier, more natural foods are associated with a healthier, stronger, fitter and a more empowered state of being.
Spend more time in nature. Walk more in nature – go for a hike, a walk in a park, sink your feet in the sand at the beach, or simply spend more time in your garden. Do the things that you love.
Create your own ‘nature’ bond and learn to care more for yourself.
